Hunger Games Story - Ashes

After almost a month, I finally got my latest Hunger Games one-shot completed.

This was inspired by the song So Cold by Ben Cocks, which is such a beautiful song.

Title: Ashes
Rating: G
Genre: Angst
Characters: Katniss
Summary: It's so quiet here and I feel so cold. This house no longer feels like home. Katniss returns to her house in District 12 at the end of Mockingjay

Notes: This contains spoilers for all three books, but mainly for Mockingjay

AshesCollapse )

I really want to write a story about the Black family from Harry Potter, mainly about Bellatrix (who is one of my favourites), Narcissa and Andromeda. I would have to come up with a good story though. I just find their history really interesting.

TTS Twinkle

Here's TTS's Twinkle MV

I love this MV. Is so bright, fun and glossy. It doesn't actually feel like a Girls' Generation video, which, I suppose, in a sense, is a good thing. But regardless, it is a good MV.

All three girls look fantastic and I love their outfits, especially their outfits for when they're in the band and their evening gown-type ones (though I'm not too keen on the black leggings).

The sets are really nice and the dance routines - I loved the beginning when they made half of the crowd of photographers move to one side with a flick of an arm. I also loved the ending when they sent the dog out to the photographers and they were watching from the balcony.

This MV, along with the album, really have put all of my indecisiveness and worries about the sub unit to rest. Considering how well the album has done after only a couple of days shows how much people love them and their music and while I do prefer Girls' Generation as a whole rather than as sub units, TTS are a really great sub unit and I hope that they either perform or make an MV for another one of their songs.

I just downloaded the first mini-album, Twinkle, by TTS (or TaeTiSeo), the first sub unit for Girls' Generation.
And I love it!

I was a bit aprehensive about it at first - because it's a sub unit rather than all 9 girls, but after seeing the teasers, I found myself increasingly liking the sound of the title track Twinkle, so I decided to download the album and it is such a great album.

As the name says, TTS consists of Girls' Generation members Taeyeon, Tiffany and SeoHyun.

The album consists of 7 tracks:
1. Twinkle
2. Baby Steps
3. OMG (Oh My God)
4. Library
5. Good-bye, Hello
6. Love Sick
7. Checkmate

And if you purchase the whole album, then you get a special message from the 3 girls and a photobook.

I really like the album. My favourite songs on it are Twinkle, Baby Steps and Love Sick.

The only thing that I don't like is the concept artwork for the album. I seriously dislike it, so instead, I'll share a picture that I do like.

Random Bit of Randomness

So, not a lot has been going on with me recently, but I still felt like posting something.

To start with, chapter 8 of The Roar of Time is up, so check it out if you can.

Now, as you know, I love The Hunger Games, both the movie (to some degree) and the book/s. Anyway, I finally listened to the song Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars which is the main Hunger Games song. I did try to listen to it a while ago, but I didn't really like the beginning so didn't listen to all of it, but I decided to listen to all of it today and I really liked it.

I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift (Love Story is alright), which was probably part of the reason why I didn't listen to whole song, but this is such a good song and it actually gave me chills.

Speaking of The Hunger Games, I'm also currently writing my third one-shot for it. This one is going to be Katniss-centic and take place after Mockingjay. It was actually inspired by a song. Hopefully that'll be finished soon.

Well, unfortunately I'm back at work on Monday. Had the past two weeks off for the Easter holidays and I'm not overly thrilled about going back. Why do we have to work?

Final act of randomness:

May the Odds be Ever in Your Favour

I have finally managed to see the Hunger Games and I loved it!

Now, yes, the book is better (to me), but the film was still awesome.

I've put my little review under a cut since it contains spoilers for both the movie and the book.

ReviewCollapse )
To cap of my weekend, I also had a DVD night with a couple of friends where we watched:
-Captain America
-Battle Royale

We watched Thor and Captain America in preparation for Avengers Assemble film (I've seen Iron Man otherwise we would have watched those too). And we watched Battle Royale because it's mine and one of my friend's favourite film and is similar to The Hunger Games except it's a lot more violent and controversial. And Tangled as a just because - well, I hadn't seen it. So I had a weekend of watching some simply awesome films.

So, as many of you know, I'm a big Girls' Generation (or SNSD) fan and so I thought I'd share my new favourite Korean group - KARA.

Now, I've liked KARA for quite a while now - I actually discovered them shortly after I discovered Girls' Generation - but it wasn't until recently, that I began to increasingly like them and their music and it's all thanks to the song Step.

I just love this song. It's got a great beat, dance routine and lyrics.

Anyway, I just thought that I'd share this with you all for no other reason then because I want to.

The current line-up

(L-R) Jiyoung, Nicole, Seungyeon, Gyuri (the leader) and Hara

They were orginally a four member group, but when Sunghee left, Jiyoung and Hara were added.

The orginal line-up: Gyuri, Sunghee, Nicole and Seungyeon

Their debut single was Break It, which I love. It's got such a different beat and attitude compared to other Korean girl groups (though after Sunghee left, their concept changed to a more 'pop' one).

Here a couple more of my favourite KARA songs:

Lupin: I love this. Not much more I can say. It's a great song and the concept is great.

If You Wanna: Another great song with a bit of a different feel to it.

With Step, and their recent Japanese single Speed Up, KARA are increasingly rising to be in line with Girls' Generation for me.

Dance Dance!

Just wanted to share my new hobby...

So, over the past couple of weeks, I've started dancing. Jive dancing to be precise.

Yesterday was my second time and despite my reservations about it - dancing with people I don't know - I found that I quite enjoyed it. I got persuaded to go by someone I work with (she's been going for a while), so I thought I'd give it a go. Learning all of the moves is difficult, but not too bad, because the man has to lead and it basically involves a lot of spinning on my account.

After only two sessions, I'm starting to get the hang of it and was told quite few times that I have a lot of potential and that I'm a fast spinner, but I think I'm a bit too fast seeing as I nearly fell over a couple of time, ha! I think my only other problem is that I don't have much tension in my arms, but was only my second time...

It's a relatively small group of people with about 20 of us, which, for a beginner like me is good, but I was told that some places have up to 100! Gulp! I definetly don't have the confidence for that! But the people where I go are so friendly and willing to help me, explaining what I'm supposed to do and everything, which is good.

This is definately an activity to help with my confidence, talking to (and dancing with) people that I don't know, but since it's such a friendly environment, I'm alright about it - though they still have to talk to me first, lol. But at least I'm confortable about it.

But, yeah, it's so fun and will hopefully boost my confidence, though all of the spinning does occassionally leave me a bit dizzy. But it's all good.
Ready, set, engage -- who gets your vote for the best Star Trek captain? What is it about them that puts them at the top of the list?
I pick Janeway on the basis that she got her crew home.

I do also like Sisko and Picard. They were both great Captains (haven't seen much of the original series, so I can't comment on Kirk and I didn't like Enterprise), especially Sisko for the Dominian War and Picard for beating the Borg.

Girls' Generation There You'll Be Live

I had to share this on here.

I had forgotten about this song and how much I love it.

I know that this performance is a couple of years old now, but it is just amazing.

All four girls are phoenemanel and of course Taeyeon doing the high note. It gives me chills when Faith Hill does it... actually the song just gives me chills in general. But I liked how they all cheered when Seohyun started singing...
